When it comes to the shows on Netflix, most shows end on a cliffhanger, announcing the next season is coming. However, for many shows, the sequel never comes. Why is that? Why does it take so long for new seasons to come out?
With many shows, they tend to say that they are going to get a new season, but people end up becoming disappointed when the show never gets their new season. Many shows like “Fuller House” and many others. A reason this might be happening is that producers either can’t come up with more for the show or the actors decide to quit or retire. Another reason a show won’t come out with a new season is because something in the community happened or an actor had passed away.
Freshman Neima Moore said, “Yeah, it’s annoying because you have to wait so long. Either it’s Netflix or the producers of the show. Or maybe I’m just impatient.”
One of these shows without another season is “Fuller House” which is the sequel to Full House. It follows the daughter DJ Tanner who lives with her sister Stephanie Tanner and their best friend Kimmy Gibler. It takes place 21 years after “Fuller House”. Netflix declared that after the 5th season, they were going to make a 6th season but it never happened. The actor Bob Saget died in 2022, the show went on but only until season five and then never proceeded with a new season. But the main reason it had never gotten a new season was because the show never grew in popularity despite it being popular in 2022.
Freshman Samantha Triolo says, “I hate it with a burning passion. I have been waiting for 2 years for a show that’s not even relevant anymore. And there’s still no clarification on whether or not season 2 will even exist. As for movie sequels, however- and I feel as though it’s not limited to Netflix movies- I respect the effort and time it takes to produce a film.” She also states, “I think there should be an inclusion of the audience during production, mainly because most of the fans of these shows are getting their updates from unprofessional articles that may contain false information. A continuous updates page on any social media could be a good way to keep their audiences engaged and up to date”
“Beastars” was another show that said it would have a third season. This series is based on the manga. The show follows Legoshi freshmen in a high school that has carnivores and herbivores. In their world meat is banned and no carnivore is allowed to eat a herbivore. Legoshi ends up going on a hunt to find a killer who ate one of Legoshi’s dear friends. The show has an amazing storyline but they end the second season by saying that a new season will come out soon. It has been two years since the show has gotten a new season so what is Netflix going to do about this?
“Stranger Things” is one of the most popular shows to appear on Netflix having it climb to number one. The show is set in the 1980’s with its bright colors and music choices, it immediately catches the viewers’ attention. It follows six children trying to figure out why people are dying in their town and their disappearances. They have to travel to the upside down to try and track down one of their friends. Netflix announced that the show was supposed to get another season but viewers have yet to see the new season since Netflix always leaves their shows on a cliffhanger.
