School breaks are a great time to relax, enjoy different hobbies, and spend time with family. During this school year’s Thanksgiving break, Isabella (9th grader at SRA) took a trip to Nevada to visit the famous “Sphere.” The Las Vegas Sphere is just off the Las Vegas Strip, located near the Venetian Resort. It’s the world’s largest spherical structure and opened on September 29, 2023. However, it took five years to construct it and cost $2.3 billion dollars. It is known to be an entertainment venue and hosts many wonderful shows. It started off with U2, then Phish, Dead & Company, The Eagles, and the Backstreet Boys! The tickets can range from $90-250 dollars. On the other hand, V.I.P tickets can be $3,000-35,000 or more depending on what you’re seeing. The dome has 167,000 speakers and can seat around 176,000 guests.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Isabella and her family went to watch the 1939 film Wizard of Oz in the Sphere. As the sphere can seat lots of guests, Isabella said it wasn’t that full. Additionally, the row next to her was almost empty. Yet, there were lots of people there to see the popular film. The reason why she went was because her mom saw it on Instagram and she loves the Wizard of Oz. “It was worth it and I would go back. Watching it felt like I was in the movie,” said Isabella.
Furthermore, some upcoming events in the dome are a Backstreet Boys, Eagles, ILLENIUM, No Doubt, Kenny Chesney, Carín León, and Phish concerts. Some popular movies showing in the Sphere in 2026 are the Wizard of Oz and From the Edge. The Las Vegas Sphere is an amazing trip to experience and place to have lots of fun with family!
