Mrs. Bradshaw is an assistant superintendent here at SRA, and she has been here since 2020. In this interview with her we got to know a little bit more about her perspective on Black History month. In our interview we asked a series of questions regarding her influential figures and traditions that happen within her family. The most important part of Black History month to her is celebrating different cultures, for people to learn about history, and how African Americans contributed to society.
Mrs. Bradshaw explained that her grandma was the most influential person in her life because of how she lived and she took care of her family back then, when most women her age didn’t. Black History month is full of traditions, and one of Mrs. Bradshaw’s traditions is meeting with her family every other month to have dinner, play games, and catch up. One of the most important things to her is learning about her family history. She explained that, “Just learning about different parts of my history has been important to me.”
While Black History month is for celebrating and recognizing African Americans, Mrs. Bradshaw celebrates all the time by trying to inform people and spread love. One of the stories that has been told and passed on in her family is how her ancestors helped build multiple places in Texas, were farmers, and owned land which was also unheard of back then. In conclusion, this interview was really informative and Mrs. Bradshaw helped us learn more about Black History and the importance of it.
