The CAASPP test is dreaded by most students and it is taken each year from 3rd grade through 8th grade, then one more time in your junior year of high school. The test checks and measures how well each student performs individually in math, writing, and reading. When students take the CAASPP test it shows the teachers what certain people do well in and also shows which areas students need more support in. These tests can help teachers plan and improve lessons for students later on. This can also help more students achieve skills that are necessary for college and the workforce.
Additionally, the CAASPP can affect the future goals of some students. With higher scores on these tests, students might get into good schools and, in some circumstances, get better scholarships. To help students achieve their best scores, teachers use interim assessments to provide students with practice for the CAASPP. The interim assessments can help students see which areas they need to work on before the big test their junior year. This is why it is important to do well on the interims to get an idea of what areas actually need improvement.
Finally, the CAASPP test is important for charter schools and school fundings because, depending on how students do on the state test, it can affect the school staying up and running. “We are a charter school and the test scores need to be good for renewals. These tests are attached to funding for school.”(Ms.Galicia, SRA High School Principal ). Overall the state testing(CAASPP) is a way to get an accurate measurement on how students are doing in certain subjects and give them a chance to prove how they will function in their future lives.
Right before test day, it is important that students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast the next morning. This will help them maintain focus throughout the test.
