Christian Gonzalez is at a football game and is the team captain of basketball J.V. “I just got out of the basketball practice and I came here to cheer for my friends in the field,” Gonzalez said.

Being a basketball team captain can be difficult. The SRA team captain for J.V. is a kind, honest, and talented player. He tries his best to create a positive environment for his teammates. Though he plays basketball as a team captain, he has goals and dreams to reach.

Christian Gonzalez started playing basketball when he was in first-grade with his dad who teached him the basics of basketball . He chose to play basketball because he wanted to try something different.

“The reason why I decided to play basketball was because I just wanted to try something different from what I have played and now I play basketball every day,” Gonzalez said, “When I first tried basketball it was at a park in 1st grade with my dad who just showed me the basics of basketball and how to play it.”

He started saying that he loved playing basketball and wants to make basketball a career. He plans to make it to the NBA and reach his goals. Gonzalez at only 14 years old is already a great basketball player and has a goal to make a reality. He says basketball could be very dangerous if don’t have the right equipment,

“The toll of being a basketball player is that you can get injured very easily if you are not wearing anything to support you,” Gonzalez said, “ The reason why basketball is important to me is because I want to be able to make it to the NBA and support my family and friends to make them proud.”

Gonzalez discussed how his team is focused on improving daily. He thinks his team has great communication and is “locked in”. He knows basketball is for him and is on track to become a successful player. He compares himself to other and does one on one to compete. Though he is very competitive he enjoys having time with his teammates.

Gonzalez said, “How I feel about my team is that we are a very competitive team and we have a lot of chemistry. I know basketball is for me because I love to do it and it’s my passion.”

He not only is a Basketball player but he is the Team Captain and he trys his best to be responsible. He states that he has to check if everyone is puting effort in and help them improve and take initiative as a leader. He believes in his team and thinks they can win against other schools.

“The things I have to do as a captain is to make sure everybody is doing there part on the team and help correct what there are doing and also being a leader,” Gonzalez said , “What I believe we can achieve is us being able to have chemistry and win all of our games versus other schools”

He started saying that he trys to motivate his team. He says he trys to keep it positive because you never know if it affects them. Gonzalez believes that positivity will have a healthy enviorment with the team.

“The stuff I try to do to motivate my teammates is to always bring positivity you never want to bring anybody down cause you don’t know what that can do to people… ”Gonzalez said.

A student was looking at his team while in practice and they said that they believe he is a responsible Captian because he knows when he is becoming a distraction. She also said that he is a great guy and is very respectful. She is impressed of how he puts the ball though the basket.

“He’s responsible though he may not remember a lot of stuff he’s respectful because he knows his boundaries,” The student said, “I think he is just a great person and he’s a genuine person. He’s a great player because he consistently makes the ball into the hoop.”

Some of his fellow teammates mentioned that he is a great team player and has a future ahead of him if he keeps it up. They mentioned that he is a decent leader and is an intelligent and good player.

“I think that he is a good player and has the potential to make it far with basketball. He is a pretty good leader but does need to work on his leadership. To me, he is the best player on the JV team,” the 2nd Team Captain said. ”Christian is a good team captain because he is smart, good at the game, and has good leadership skills,” a basketball player stated.

Gonzalez stated “Basketball isn’t just a sport it’s a lifestyle”
