Something worth highlighting on this campus is the lack of student participation. Many people, students and parents alike, complain of the lackluster events, such as homecoming, yet all events hosted for Santa Rosa Academy are all student-run. This isn’t to say that the students who are actively participating in these events are doing terribly. This is more to focus on the level of impact each individual student can have.
If you wish to have something changed, you can go and join the program, depending on what it is, and attempt to improve it. Leadership is in charge of organizing all school dances and events, such as homecoming. Quite a few people have spoken about the lackluster feeling of the dance. Everything at this school is heavily localized, which makes such things, like reaching out to the organizers of events, much easier and more accessible.
Of course, you don’t have to actively seek out solutions tirelessly in order to criticize something. Complaining into the void and expecting change is fruitless though. Those who truly wish for the betterment of our school’s events should seek out to participate in the leadership progam our school has. Students voices are always heard, due to the small community of our school. Each voice also holds power, even if on their own. Passion is not wasted on our campus, and your voices will be heard if your pleas fall on the correct ears.
The purpose of this article isn’t to say “if you don’t like something, change it.” It is meant to encourage participation in planning, funding, and aid in general of our school and our events. Not everyone has the time or the resources available to aid our school, and that’s okay.
At Santa Rosa, we wish to make a community cherished by all, making people feel welcome here. This is heavily aided by the amount of people that participate in events, whether if you’re planning it, helping setting up, or just going. Participation is crucial to the liveliness of our community.
