The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers Frosh team caused a massive upset, defeating the Paloma Valley Wildcats freshman team 26-6. The Rangers began with possession at the 40-yard line, and 3 plays in freshman Thomas Little (#8) scored a 36-yard rushing touchdown.
The Rangers following this were on defense, and the Paloma Wildcats unfortunately scored on us. However, the Rangers didn’t waste any time getting back into the game. Thomas Little shined once again and handed the ball off to sophomore Maxwell Dupree (#81), who rushed 35 yards for the second rushing touchdown of the game. After a successful stop on defense, the Rangers were up 12-6 in the 3rd quarter with the ball back in their possession and were looking for more. 3 plays into the drive freshman Drake Cardoza (#75) scored a 17-yard rushing touchdown, making this the 3rd touchdown of the game. With 3 minutes left on the clock, Thomas Little rushed 15 yards for his second touchdown of the game, increasing the Rangers lead to 20 points. Following this, the Rangers defense shut the Wildcats offense down with an interception from Drake Cardoza, which sealed the win for the Rangers.
Following this, the freshman and sophomore team are very excited to have their first win under their belt and are ready for what’s next. Freshman Ian Sanders (#77) explained, “Pre-game, we had our heads up and went out there to work, and we won the game. I can’t wait for what’s next.” Freshman Thomas Little added, “I’m proud of us because we worked hard at practice all week and came out here and got the win”. The frosh team’s next game will be a home game on Thursday, September 19th vs The Rubidoux Falcons. The Falcons currently have a 0 win and 3 loss record after getting obliterated by the Bloomington Bruins 28-6. This exciting matchup will be free for all students to attend.
