Thomas Crunk is a natural athlete who has a gift for the game and his love for basketball began at an early age. When he was just six years old, he started playing basketball because he thought it was fun and competitive, and he has been dedicated to the sport ever since, honing his skill on the court. Right now, he is 15 years old and plays for the junior varsity team at Santa Rosa Academy.
Thomas Crunk’s father, Tom Crunk, has been a major influence in his son’s basketball journey, teaching him how to play the game since he was 5 years old, “My dad has been teaching me how to play basketball since I was at least 5 years old.” As the varsity coach for Santa Rosa Academy, Tom Crunk has been crucial in helping Tommy develop his skills and achieve his goals of playing basketball, when asked “Do you think your dad pushes you harder at home than anyone else?” he replied “I think he does.” With his dad’s help, Thomas can take basketball far in life, maybe even making it to college or the NBA.
Thomas Crunk is already showing great talent on the court, “I think he’s one of the best players on the team and he keeps the morale up.” said Jaxon Ebberts, Thomas has played for Tom Crunk (his dad) and Isiah Hudson. His exceptional skills have earned him a reputation as a great young basketball player in his community. Thomas has served his coaches well and has been a valuable aspect to his teams, last year he started every game for his team, which is a privilege only given to the top players. “I want to practice to the point where it’s almost uncomfortable how fast you shoot, so that in the game things kind of slow down.” Thomas shares this quote from the great Stephen Curry as he uses Curry’s words as motivation to keep playing.
That’s why Thomas Crunk has set himself a big goal: to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). This is a dream that he is determined to achieve, and he is working every day to improve his skills on the court. His dedication to basketball is evident in his training regimen both in and out of the gym. He continues to work hard and try his best so he can get a notice from college teams. Thomas plays point guard or one of the wings on the court because of his shooting and driving skills.
Thomas says that some of the challenges he thinks he will face on his journey to the NBA are his size and height. “A challenge I faced in my life with basketball is being short,” said Thomas. He also said “I think a challenge I will face going to the NBA is my height,” Thomas’s height and size might affect his notice from college and NBA scouts, but it won’t stop him from playing the game. One of the smallest players in the NBA, Stephen Curry is small standing at 6’2,(an average height for the NBA is 6’6) but he is one of the best shooters to ever live. Judging from that fact, Thomas’ height and size might not be a problem. Thomas is currently standing at 5’1. Another challenge he or anyone could face is recognition from colleges, you have to be one of the top players in your school to get noticed.
His friends recognize his talent and dedication to the sport. The road ahead will not be easy, but he is willing to put in the work to achieve his ultimate goal of playing in the NBA. He practices every day at home, or in the gym to improve his skill to reach his goal. “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” This quote by Michael Jordan shows how Thomas’s determination can take him to the NBA. Last year when Thomas was 14, he won a basketball championship for Santa Rosa Academy for playing basketball. It is 100 percent possible for Thomas to get to the NBA because thousands of people have done it before
Thomas Crunk’s passion for basketball is infectious, and he inspires others around him to work hard and follow their dreams. Thomas has a bright future ahead of him, and with his talent and hard work, there is no doubt that he will achieve his goal of playing in the NBA. We wish Thomas the best of luck on his journey and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.
