Week three of the NFL had some good games but the best was the matchup between the Rams and 49ers which was an insane game for football fans. The 49ers depended on the pass game while the Rams were doing excellent at both. This game was a great example of playing all the way till the end.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan said, “I think it was a frustrating game throughout it. I thought we had every chance to win that game. I thought also we had a number of times in the game, we had opportunities to run away with it especially early in the game, that 14-point lead. We hadn’t really moved the ball on our ‘D’ and it started with that fake punt.”
The 49ers started off on the board first with a Jauan Jennings touchdown. Quarterback Brock Purdy connected with the tight end Eric Saubert to gain back yards that were lost.
Purdy threw yet another touchdown to Jennings making the score 14-0. Quarterback Matthew Stanford hands the ball off to running back Kyren Williams for an excellent run but still leads them to fourth down.
49ers got back on the field Purdy throws the ball to Brandon Aiyuk for the first down. Purdy threw the ball to Aiyuk again but it was incomplete.
Tre’Davious White, the Rams cornerback, did what he could to stop the ball from getting anywhere. Stanford connected with wide receiver Tutu Atwell to take it out past the 40 yard line.
The Rams ended up receiving a fourth down and moved in formation to punt but it turned out to be a fake which helped them because they got a first down with the conversion.
Stanford threw the ball to Williams and Williams hopped over one of the Niners defenders, scoring the touchdown. That put the game at 14-7 in the second quarter.
Purdy looked for a receiver and the ball is knocked out by the linebacker Byron Young which leads to the Rams to take over. The Rams started with the ball in the third quarter but were unable to score on the drive. Purdy handed the ball off to running back Jordan Mason and he moved inside the 40.
Purdy launched the ball to Jennings for his third touchdown of the game. The Rams started their drive when the ball thrown to Atwell came up incomplete but there was a pass interference flag on the play by cornerback Isaac Yiadom which placed the Rams near the Niners 20 yard line.
Willams ran in for his second touchdown making the game 21-14. Purdy again launched the ball to Jennings getting them near the Rams 30 yard line. Purdy scrambled around for the first and scrambled again just short of a first down.
The Niners tried running the ball but are stopped by Rams defense which forces the Niners to make a field goal putting the Niners at a two score lead. Stanford connected with Demarcus Robinson to get near the Niners 30.
The Rams were unable to score a touchdown on the drive but got a field goal which made it a one score game. The Niners are also unable to score a touchdown on their drive and attempt a 55 yard field goal but miss, still making the game 24-17. The Rams took their chance when the ball was launched down field and was caught by Atwell to put them at first and goal.
Williams ran the ball in the endzone for another touchdown which made the game a tie. The Niners got the ball but are stopped by the Rams defense. The ball is punted to Xavier Smith and is run near midfield for great positioning. The Rams run down the clock and kick a field goal to win the game 27-24.
