The Philidelpia Phillies fell short in a three to two loss against the St .Louis Cardinals on Monday, May 12th.The first three innings were quite uneventful, until the top of the 4th inning when Phillies pitcher Christopher Sanchez walked batter Nolan Arenado. Arenado capalized off this by advancing to 2nd on Wilson Contreas’s flyball, and then to third after a wild pitch from Sanchez.

Following this Arenado scored off a hit to third base from Pedro Pages giving the Cardinals the first score of the game and a one to zero lead. The Phillies tied the game back up in the bottom of the forth with a double from J.T. Realmuto who scored following Arenado fumbling Edmundo Sosa’s ground ball to third base. The Cardinals took a two to one lead in the top of the sixth after Herrera hit a line drive home run. The Phillies responded in the bottom of the same inning after Realmuto scored thanks to a solid hit from Kyle Schwarber. In the bottom of the seventh with two outs Cardinals batter Mason Winn hit a monster home run over the left wall giving the Cardinals a three to two lead. Strong pitching and fielding from the Cardinals prevented the Phillies from scoring again securing there ninth consecutive victory. Following this on Friday May 16th the Phillies are set to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Cardinals are battling the Kansas City Royals.

The Phillies are favored to win there home matchup against the Pirates with a better record, and higher batting average being main contriubters to this.
