Optimum Nutrition’s Extreme Milk Chocolate Protein Powder
Optimum Nutrition is one of the most popular staples in the protein powder industry, and there is a reason for that. In Optimum Nutrition’s “About Us” they share how the brand is a part of a global nutrition group, who has been contributing with “Uncompromising quality” for more than 30 years. A company dedicated to providing athletes with quick and easy protein sources that are full of nutrition while still being tasty. After buying and trying their Extreme Milk Chocolate, I had a couple thoughts.
Getting into the actual taste test what stood out initially is how well the taste goes along with the supposed flavor. It tastes just like chocolate milk as a protein powder. Most of the time, other brands have a classic protein powder taste, or textures just taste weird and that is not the case with this protein powder.
Fuel up with Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard 100% Whey. Available in multiple flavors.
Nothing really goes against this product. Both milk and water taste pretty good, and can offer macros that can appeal to anyone’s health and fitness goals. I would say that if someone really has a concern with texture, then spend a couple extra seconds shaking it up in a bottle but I don’t really ever run into problems with clumps in my shakes.
This specific pack that I purchased was from Costco, that comes with 5.64 lbs of protein powder. I have around 3-5 per week, and still I have so much to go through. After doing the math, the amount of servings to the price of the bag is well worth the money, and is also available in Vanilla Ice Cream flavor.
I prepared the protein shake with the suggested serving size and serving size of milk. I Tried the milk with 8 oz and shook the bottle for 30 seconds, it came out pretty well and the consistency was like regular chocolate milk.
Now trying the shake with 8 oz of water, the consistency was a lot thinner but the shake didn’t have as much flavor. Despite not being as flavorful as the test with milk, I still thought it tasted pretty good. I think the water is good for a quick shake and is still a good alternative if milk is not a favorite or lying around.
Not only providing just nutrition facts, Optimum Nutrition shares instructions and in depth information on the product. Healthy products are a need, and knowing how to take them is just as important.
Some important facts about the protein powder is how it contains 5.5 g of BCAAs, 1 scoop is around only 120 calories with 2 grams of fat and 24 grams of Protein. The protein comes in 23 different flavors to appeal to everyone’s taste. Overall the price can offer a better deal in price with an approximate 2 serving size difference between a rival company Bloom Nutrition. It offers a 30 serving pack for $54.99, while optimum nutrition offers a $42.99 for 28 servings.
From other protein powder brands I’ve tried, I’d say this is towards the top of my list and is a recommendation for everyone to give a try. Besides taste, the ingredients, convenience or accessibility, and price are also big factors into what a good protein powder has.
Drinking this shake is a quick and easy way to get your protein in for the day. When reaching for Optimum Nutrition’s protein powder, try it with the recommended amount of milk. Drinking with 1 scoop and milk will bring out the best of its intended flavor, and I’d personally recommend it and rate this a 7/10.
