Another month passed, new students recognized. On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, five new students were recognized for their outstanding achievements and qualities to gain the title of “September Student of the Month.”
For those who aren’t aware, each month, the Santa Rosa Academy academic staff come together to choose one student from each grade who has demonstrated the most leadership, character qualities during that previous month. The teachers nominate students and take a vote on who they feel has shown the most success.
This month three of the five winners participate in SRA sports and believe that it’s the lessons they’ve learned from their respective sports that got them the award.
12th grade winner/soccer player, Araia Worthington, stated “Soccer has had the most impact on because because every year I get to play with such amazing people and I will always be grateful to be apart of this team. I think that all fo the girls have helped me grow as a player and as a person and I love playing with them.”
Samuel Cante, 9th grade winner/football player stated, “Football has made me a better leader” and has shown him how teamwork plays apart in day-to-day life.
Due to having to maintain a certain academic standard, each student mentioned a similar way of staying calm under pressure while also doing the best to succeed in their academic lives. Splitting up the work into small sections with a 5-10 break in between has proven to help the students significantly.
Staying organized and discipliZoened plays a huge part in this as well.
Worthington stated, “discipline and time management are really important because you have to be willing to push through the hard times in order to have a good outcome. I know it is hard a lot of the time and I have had a lot of times where I wanted to just not do my homework or put it off until later but it is so much more worth it to just get stuff done because it takes a lot of stress off of you and helps you in the long run.”
