Saturday night marked an emotional night for many seniors as it was the last time they played on their home field. Before the game started, many seniors realized that this was their last home game – many of them wanted to make a statement in this game.
The Rangers got their first touchdown with Senior Caleb Delgado’s 20-yard run. The team then scored again in the first quarter with another 50-yard run by Dominic Thomas. The Webb School scored a passing touchdown, putting them down eight points near the end of the first quarter.
Daniel Marlow would then throw a 35-yard passing touchdown to Aaron Quesada. The Rangers were up 21 to 6 at the end of the first quarter.
The Rangers then scored again at the start of the second quarter, this time on a 2-yard touchdown run by Daniel Marlow. Webb was down by 22 points in the early second quarter.
The Rangers would force a fumble on the following kickoff and take control of the ball at the 25. Daniel Marlow would go for another 3-yard run for a touchdown. The Rangers defense was on point because Nick Welty would intercept the ball and return it to the 5-yard line the next drive.
Welty ran it in from five yards, giving Santa Rosa a commanding lead. The Rangers weren’t giving Webb any breaks as they would force another fumble on kickoff. The Rangers only allowed six points in the first half, and it seemed like there was no stopping them on offenses as they scored 43 points in the first half.
The rest of the game went very fast, as the team had a running clock due to the mercy rule. The Rangers would go scoreless in the second half, and the Webb would score six points in the third quarter.
Many Seniors played their hearts out in the first half as they knew it was possible that it could be their last game on their home field. All of the Seniors shared good advice and sportsmanship with their younger teammates as they got their chance to play in the second half. These seniors definitely will be remembered for what they did for this team and what they will continue to do. The Rangers hope to continue to CIF and need all the support they can get!
