The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers Triumphed 51-40 over the Kearny Komets in Friday’s away game. The game started with the Rangers on defense, and 2 minutes into the first quarter junior Tyler Quaintance (#2) made a crucial interception. The Rangers capitalized on this halfway through the first quarter, with senior Daniel Marlow (#10) rushing 5 yards for a touchdown. Now back on Defense, the Rangers were electric, and senior Caden Stecker (#1) picked the ball off for the second interception of the night. The Rangers followed up with an 18-yard rushing touchdown from Marlow (#10) capping off the first quarter with a 13-6 lead. 2 minutes into the second quarter Sophomore Ezekiel Thralls (#45) recovered a fumble putting the ball back in the Ranger’s hands resulting in a 45 yard receiving touchdown from senior Jackson Morace (#22).

Following this, the Rangers had trial and error throughout the rest of the 2nd quarter ending the half with a comfortable 37-20 lead. Throughout the 3rd quarter, the Rangers kept battling the Komets as they were catching up to the Rangers. A 19-yard rushing touchdown from Marlow (#10) ended the 3rd quarter with the score being 45-34. Now up by 11, the Rangers ran the clock down throughout the 4th quarter ultimately kneeling out the clock for the victory.

The star player of the night was Daniel Marlow (#10) rushing for 251 yards and 4 touchdowns, as well as passing for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the team post-game huddle Marlow credited, “the team’s willingness to be flexible and football demeanor”. The Rangers are now starting the preparation for their next opponent the San Bernardino Cardinals who they’ll face off against at home on Friday, September 20th. The Cardinals boast a 3-1 record after beating Channel Islands 35-2. This homecoming matchup will be exciting, to say the least as the Rangers hope to keep their win streak alive and win their homecoming game.
