Art is a great hobby to distract and relax yourself and many people find it a great way to relieve stress. Santa Rosa’s Art club provides a space for students to explore their artistic abilities and interest after school.
Jannelly Herrera, adviser of the art club and art teacher at SRA, said, “We have parties and do different art activities every week. We meet after school on Fridays. We have a few sophomores and juniors in the art club.”
The art club has many activities every week for students to come and enjoy. Herrera stated she likes advising art club because it gives students the freedom to be able to express themselves and have fun.
“One of my favorite things was drawing turkeys together. I draw a rat instead of a turkey and it was one of my favorite times because of the memories we made together. I like how we get in arguments about art and are really close” said sophomore Audrina Eaton.
The club often hosts parties, along with the activities. It is mostly student-led — students get to plan and organize what activities they do. Herrera believes that students organizing and planning activities helps students develop their leadership skills.
