The first week of the NFL has kicked off with a crazy start. All the teams that participated made great plays and progress throughout the games. Some of these games were extremely close but alas, the weaker teams were blown out of the water. Compared to last year, some of the teams have made improvements while some have lost their touch.
Head coach Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs explains “I felt like we did some good things in all three phases with plenty of room to improve in all three phases.”
The first game of the week were the Baltimore Ravens vs the Kansas City Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs ended up dominating the Ravens by a touchdown. This ended up being the one play that really set the tone for the game. The Ravens were down seven points and it was the last few seconds of the fourth quarter when quarterback Lamar Jackson connected with the Tighetend Isahiah Likely for a touchdown. When the play was reviewed, it was said that he likely had his right toe out of bounds, which took back the Raven’s touchdown and led the game to its ending score.
Meanwhile in Rio De Janiero, Brazil, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers faced off for the first time in a South American country. This also was the first NFL game for the new running back Saquan Barkley to play in, which he went all out for. The head coach of the Eagles Nick Sirianni expresses his gratitude towards the new addition to the team, stating “We are so excited to have him… He made it in the pass game. He made plays in the run game.”
The Green Bay Packers and the Eagles played on the sixth of September. The end game score was 34-29 with the Eagles dominating the Packers. The game was going amazing. Barkley had 109 rushing yards and a total of three touchdowns. Barkley walked off the field after colliding with a Packers defender and it looks like he suffered a minor stinger. It’s claimed that the trainers didn’t pay too much attention to him, which likely means this injury is nothing to be scared of for Eagles fans.
The Dolphins vs Jaguars game was extremely interesting, but what’s more surprising with what happened before the game.
On the way to the game, Tyreek Hill, the wide receiver of the Miami Dolphins, was pulled over for reckless driving on the way to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Once Hill was free of the officer’s grasp, he appeared at the game ready to go.
During the third quarter of the game, Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins quarterback, launched the ball to Hill and he caught it for the touchdown. Even when Hill was stopped on the road nobody could stop him on the field. The game ended with the Dolphins triumphing over the Jaguars by a field goal.
Overall, this week of the NFL was bustling with excitement on and off the field.
