Last weekend, the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers had an impressive 54-14 victory over the San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves.
The Rangers started their momentum on the first play, when senior Caden Stecker returned the opening kick 70 yards down the field for a touchdown and brought seven points to the scoreboard. Following this, the Rangers were unstoppable when senior quarterback Daniel Marlow picked up a rushing touchdown less than a minute later. The Rangers continued this dominance all the way to half-time with the score being 47-0. It was at this point when the coaches made the decision to pull all the starting players, and let the younger and backup players get playing time. They claimed to have wanted to prepare the freshman for their game against the Paloma Valley Wildcats next Saturday.
The defensive backs were electric, with senior Jackson Morace having 10 tackles and one interception, turning the backfield into a no fly zone. All of the spotlight can’t go to the skill players though, as the offensive and defensive line were crucial in today’s win. Sophomore captains Ryan Peterson and Jacob Bradwell, having an explosive day at defensive tackle and end. Peterson attributes the success today to, “everyone in sync and working together for one common goal.” Quarterback Daniel Marlow added that “the only discipline that lasts is self-discipline, we need to stay humble and get back to work on Tuesday.”
This win has boosted the spirits of many players, and they are excited to carry this momentum into their next game against the Nuview Knights at home on September 6th at 7 PM. The Knights are currently 1-1 after losing 0-48 vs the Maranatha Christian Eagles, and many of our Rangers believe we will easily triumph over them. The Rangers are eager to extend their win streak to 2-1 and make this season one to remember. Come cheer on your Rangers in the new stadium, and tickets can be purchased at the door or on Gofan for 6$. Don’t forget to bring your student ID card for entry and to come wearing your best camo attire. We hope to see you there!
