First song (pop out)
The first song pop out is reminiscent of Cartis rockstar persona seen on the album Whole lotta red. I personally think this song is the weakest on the album. The beat and overall mixing of the song is overwhelming and takes you away from the vocals. They also overuse adlibs like swerve and schyeah. The overall score of this song would be a 2/10.
Second song(Crush)
Crush is the song that was used for the promotion of the album and was heard for events like complex con. Crushs beat and adlibs start very well making the song seem very promising. The issue with this is that these adlibs and build up last for too long lasting almost 2 minutes. Carti’s verse isn’t anything special but the beat and adlibs alone make this song a 7/10.
Third song(K PoP)
K PoP was originally called Ketamine when the song leaked the intro was very thrill inducing. This is one of Carti’s best verses in the whole album. The song is very catchy and Carti flows very well on the beat. The only issue with the song is the length only being 1:30 of vocals. Overall the song is a 7.5/10.
Fourth song(Evil Jordan)
Evil Jordan was previously posted on his youtube channel and is now making its first appearance on streaming. The build up to this song is done very well, not being too long and going into one of carti’s best rap performances. The ad libs by swamp izzo also add a good atmosphere to the song hyping you up. Overall the song is a 8/10
Fifth song(Mojo jojo)
The song opens up with Kendrick Lamar hyping up Carti. The use of Kendrick Lamar is very good on the song using him to hype up the audience and adlibs. Kendrick’s voice can seem weird and unfitting at certain points, lowering the overall score of the track. Playboi Carti’s verse isn’t anything special and just average. The overall score is 6.5/10
Sixth song(Philly)
The song opens up with a verse from Travis scott the verse overall isn’t anything special especially on Travis standards but is still pretty solid. The song title refers to Carti’s love for Philly and the picture of him in the Allen Iverson jersey. Carti’s verse is solid nothing special, The overall song is a 7.5/10
Seventh song(Radar)
Is a song with Metro Boomin the beat is a very metro like beat. Carti’s first verse is very good; his second verse does fall flat. Swamp izzo’s ad libs on this song can be a little much. Overall the song is a 6.5/10
Eighth song(Rather Lie)
This song was performed live before being put on the album. People were very excited for this song and it didn’t let down. Rather Lie features The Weekend the angelic beat is also a perfect fit for this song. The weeknd does his thing on this song and is overall amazing. Carti’s first verse is solid but his second is where it is amazing. Carti switches between his deep voice and regular voice making the song seem like 2 different people. His 2 voices make a great effect for the song and was something I wish he did more. Rather Lie is the best song on the album with a rating of 9.5/10.
Ninth song( Fine Sh**)
The beat of the song is very upbeat. I think this style suits Carti very well. The lyrics are overall very catchy and are a great song for summer. This song gets a 8.5/10
Tenth song (BackD00R)
This song Features Kendrick Lamar and Jhene Aiko. This song is very catchy and the chemistry between Kendrick and Carti really shows on this song. Unlike Mojo Jojo, Kendrick fits perfectly on this song. The mix of Jhene Aiko’s vocals and Kendrick mix very well. Carti says Backdoor is also very good, giving the song more personality and upbeat feeling. The song is a 8.7/10
Eleventh song (Toxic)
Toxic is just an average song. Carti doesn’t really do anything special. The beat itself is just average and the lyrics are repetitive. Skepta’s verse isn’t notable at all and doesn’t fit on the song he feels forced and takes away from Carti. This song gets a 5/10
Twelfth song (MUNYUN)
The song opens up the Swamp izzo talking. The song takes about the journey that Carti has had and how far he has come. Carti’s verse is pretty good but the overuse of adlibs from Swamp Izzo take away from the song. This song gets a 6/10
Thirteenth song(CRANK)
This song is very notable with Carti mostly saying free throat. His verses are alright and nothing special. This song can get very repetitive and is also forgettable. This song gets a 5.5/10
Fourteenth song(CHARGE DEM HOES A FEE)
This song features future and travis scott overall giving the song a good trap feel. Future does his thing on the beat and opens the song with a solid verse. Travis has a short verse but is very effective. This song gets a 7.5/10
Fifteenth song(Good Credit)
The opening of good credit is a sample of a guy talking. This gives the song a very unique style. Carti opens this song with an amazing verse and just flows on the beat. Kendrick’s verse is actually good and doesn’t feel out of place. The only issue with his verse is when he says Carti is my evil twin. It doesn’t fit the song and is overall just corny. This song gets a 7/10
Sixteenth song( I SEEEEEE YOU BABY BOI)
The songs’ beats and vocals are really good. The beat is otherworldly and carti flows very well on it. While this track doesn’t do anything special it also doesn’t do anything wrong. This song gets a 6.5/10
Seventeenth song (WAKE UP F1THY)
This song features Travis Scott again. The overall production of this track is one of the best in the whole album. Carti’s verse is solid and the same could be said about travis scotts. The overall song gets a 7.3/10
Eighteenth song(Jumpin)
Carti opens up the song with an interlude to what is to come. After carti’s first verse Lil Uzi Vert goes crazy with the best verse on the whole album. The only issue with this song is how lackluster Carti’s verse was, and how short the song was. The overall song gets a 8.3/10
Nineteenth song (TRIM)
This song features Future and he absolutely spazzes. His verse is amazing, and that along with the ad libs from Swamp izzo make the verse amazing. Carti’s verse is solid but gets overshadowed by future and Swamp izzo ad libs become overbearing being played almost every second during carti’s verse. Overall the song is a 7.5/10
Twentieth (COCAINE NOSE)
This song’s mixing is mediocre at best and Carti’s verse is below average. This along with the fact that half of the song he just says COCAINE NOSE makes the song a 3.5/10
Twenty one (WE NEED ALL DA VIBEZ)
This features Young Thug and Ty Dolla $ign. This song is a perfect summer anthem. Young Thug does his thing and all the vibes are there. Ty Dolla $ign fits this song perfectly overall and Cartis’ verse is solid. Overall this song is a 8.6/10
Twenty two (Olympian)
Olympian is amazing and is Carit’s best rap performance on the whole album; this along with very good production and beat of the song make it one of the stronger tracks on the whole album. This song gets an 8.4/10
Twenty three (OPM BABI)
OPM BABI is nothing special having the whole lotta red sound. Personally this sound doesn’t fit the album and carti does not match the beat. This along with the overuse of Swamp Izzo’s ad libs make the song one of the weakest on the tracks. This song gets a 3/10.
Twenty four (TWIN TRIM)
This is purely Lil uzi song and he does his thing again and just completely flows on the beat. The only issue was that the song was only 1:20 second and 30 second. The song gets a 8/10
Twenty five (LIKE WEEZY)
This song is a very upbeat song with 808s and an uplifting beat. This song is a tribute to lil wayne and that’s why the song is titled the way it is. The song doesn’t do anything crazy special but is still pretty solid this song gets a 7.5/10
Twenty six (DIS 1 GOT IT)
Carti opens the song with his deep voice and he flows very well on the beat. Though the song can get repetitive at times it still flows well especially with the vibe of the song. This song gets a 7.5/10
Twenty seven (WALK)
This song is very short and doesn’t do anything really crazy, it’s just simple with adlibs from swamp izzo the song gets a 5/10.
Twenty eight (HBA)
This song was originally called Hood by Air and was on Cartis youtube. This song is just iconic now and carti does well overall following the beat. This song gets a 7.8/10
Twenty nine (Overly)
Carti doesn’t do anything really special on this track and the instrumental doesn’t really match his vocals. This song had so much more potential but the lyrics are repetitive and boring. This song gets a 5/10.
Thirty (SOUTH ATLANTA BABY)
This song pays homage to Atlanta where Carti is from. But overall this song is just a mediocre song and not the best way to end the album. I mean the story is there but the overall song just isn’t the best this song gets a 6/10.
Overall the whole album has really good highpoints but also some low points. This album is one of carti’s best but the list of 30 songs seems to only hurt the album. The overall rating of the album is a 6.8/10.
