On October 1, two male dire wolves were born despite their status as an extinct animal.
On January 30th, one female dire wolf was born, according to Colossal Biosciences. The Dire wolves are a species of wolf that has been extinct for over 12,000 years. Colossal scientists created the three dire wolf puppies using cloning and gene editing technology, altering the genes of a gray wolf and ancient DNA of the Dire wolves. The gray wolf is the dire wolf’s closest living relative. Overall, the puppies are a hybrid species that have a similar appearance to the prehistoric dire wolves.
“This massive milestone is the first of many coming examples demonstrating that our end-to-end de-extinction technology stack works,” said Ben Lamm, Colossal’s co’founder and CEO, in a news release. “Our team took DNA from a 13,000-year-old tooth and a 72,000-year-old skull and made healthy dire wolf puppies.”
The three dire wolves are living in an undisclosed location that has the size of 2,000 acres. They are monitored by drones, live cameras, and security.

Colossal has been working to bring back other animals such as the Dodo Bird, the Tasmanian Tiger, and the Mammoth.
Essentially, the wolf is a hybrid animal and has the closest appearance and genes to the ancient dire wolf. So they took the DNA of the dire wolf and the grey wolf and created a baby wolf from that.

This sparks a few different questions. What animal will be resurrected from the dead next, and another question will some fantasy movies be real such as Jurassic park. There’s already scientists working to bring back many different animals. Could it be where were only a few years away until a dinosaur walks the earth again.
